When people drive down your street, is it your house they notice? Or does your home blend in among the others, looking cookie-cutter similar in your suburb? If you want to make your house stand out in your neighbourhood you need to add visual appeal to it. It can be surprisingly simple and cost-effective to do so.

Slap on a fresh coat of paint. Sometimes just painting the front door, the window trims and shutters can be enough to refresh the whole look of the house.

Spruce up the details. Put a planter box with brightly colored flowers in it just beside the front door. Attach a new brass door knocker. Add a new mailbox. These are all low cost ways to make your house look fresh and vibrant.

Add an easy low maintenance garden.  If you’re not a gardener, just add a few containers of bright cheerful flowers in the front yard. Choose flower colours that complement your paint scheme for an added impact.

Include a welcoming place to sit. A seating place, whether it is a pair of rockers, a wicker porch swing or a gorgeous iron outdoor setting, gives a message of welcome.

Just by attending to a few details you can spruce up your home, make it more attractive to you and your family and potentially increase the value of it.
